Ford Recalls Explorer & Mountaineer
Vehicles for Fire Danger
Do you own one of these potential lemon Ford Explorer or
Ford Mountaineer vehicles?
- 2008 Explorer
- 2008 Explorer Sport Track
- 2008 Mercury Mountaineer SUVs
The affected vehicles are equipped with the Ford 4.6 liter
engine and the Ford 6R transmissions and apparently about
1,500 of them were built.
A bolt securing the oil cooler line fittings at the transmission
may not have been tightened sufficiently at the Ford Louisville
assembly plant between July 23 and August 14, 2007, according
to federal safety investigators.
If the bolt loosens, then the transmission lines can fall
off the transmission and fluid can leak onto a hot catalytic
converter and a fire can erupt.
