Additional Laws for Lemon Devices
In the United States, three sets of laws protect you if you
happen to buy a "lemon" Device. The Magnuson
Moss Warranty Act (what we call the "federal" Lemon
Law), the Uniform Commercial Code, and individual state "handicap
device lemon laws."
If you have experienced repeated problems with your A D, and think
you may have a "lemon", don't hesitate to do something about it!
In many instances, your rights are limited by time or other factors
-- so don't wait. Our "Lemon Test" will help determine if you
qualify for legal remedies under the Handicap Lemon Laws. Take
the Assistive Device Lemon Test.
Lease
Fraud
Assistive Device dealers
can easily take advantage of you when you lease an A D.
For example, some dealers may tell the leasing company
(such as a bank) that the device costs more than it really
does or is worth more than it really is, just to get a
higher price than you would actually pay if you were buying
it outright.
These practices can allow the dealer to overcharge
you without you ever knowing it. In some cases, you can be
led to believe you are buying an A D when in fact the dealer
is leasing it to you. This can happen when you trust the
dealer have have little knowledge of the process.
Leasing looks
simple, but it can be very complicated. A lot of dealers like it
because it's an easy way to deceive consumers. If you believe you were misled
or cheated in leasing a Device, you may wish to contact us.
Sales Fraud
