Cadillac Recalls Hearses for
Fuel Leak Fire Danger
 It’s
not too funny, but maybe it is in a sick, morbid sort of way...Cadillac
appears to be offering free (but unexpected) cremations.
Turns out that over a thousand 2006 and 2007 model year
hearses are being recalled because of a potential fire hazard.
Leaking fuel could cause a fire to erupt while the hearse
is driving in procession on its way to the cemetery. If that
happens, the vehicle (and occupant) remains can just be towed
on over to the crematorium.
The hearses were sold under the brand names of Superior,
Sayers and Scoville, Eureka and Miller-Meteor and have a
faulty fuel neck assembly that could leak gasoline. Federal
safety investigators say that the potential fuel leak can
unknowingly occur while refueling and inadequate protection
exists to prevent the chance of the gas leak from igniting
after the hearse leaves the pump.
