Big Dog Recalls Motorcycle
Sissy Bars that Fall Off
Do you own one of these potential lemon Sissy Bar Big Dog
Bikes?
- 2006 Big Dog K-9 with sissy bar
- 2007 Big Dog K-9 with
sissy bar
- 2007 Big Dog Bulldog with sissy bar
- 2007 Big Dog Mastiff
with sissy bar
Certain Big Dog aftermarket sissy bar assemblies sold as
an accessory part for the motorcycles listed above can fall
apart and fall off your motorcycle, according to Big Dog
Motorcycle company’s report to federal government safety
investigators.
If a passenger is leaning against the sissy bar when the
assembly falls apart, going down the highway, an accident
can happen.
Turns out that the sissy bar assemblies may be “undersized.” That’s
sort of like saying they’re too small, reports Connor,
the Lemon Law Dog. “Little sissy bars,” says
Connor, “don’t belong on a Big Dog.”
If your Big Dog brand sissy bar is too small, the sissy
bar can move too much and over time that can cause the bolts
that hold the sissy bar in place to break. When bolts break,
parts fall off. The result? The sissy bar can detach from
the motorcycle. When that happens, people (or dogs) can fall
off the bike. “And that’s not good,” says
Connor.
