BMW is recalled more than 29,000 vehicles for a dangerous
stalling problem involving the V8 engine-equipped vehicles
with electronic control units. In freezing temperatures, combined
with low humidity, BMW found out that an electrostatic discharge
can occur at the fuel rail area. If it happens, the engine’s
computer (the engine ECU) could be affected and cause stalling.

If that happens, the engine can stall and lose power steering
and that can lead to an accident. You can probably still steer
if the vehicle is still running but since stalling is part
of the problem, it probably won’t run for long. Stalling
on the highway is definitely not a good thing, folks! Curiously,
the only BMW X 5 model involved in the recall is the 2007 year
model.
