The federal government’s safety investigators at the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration first learned
of the child seat defect in late 2005. That led to this massive
recall. It turns out that child seat latch connectors may
not fully catch the anchor because metal wire in the seatback
frame may get in the way. You may think the child seat is
latched securely in place when it really isn’t.
