Federal safety officials say that some models failed safety
tests and fail to provide adequate protection in a crash.
Ford is recalling more than 134,000 vehicles in the US and
thousands more in Canada.
In 2004 Ford recalled some 262,000 2005 Escapes due to faulty
locking mechanisms in the rear liftgate hatch.
