Lexus Recalls IS and GS Sedans
Every
once in awhile, even “the best” can make a mistake.
According to Reuters News, automaker Toyota is calling 57,000
2006 Lexus IS and GS models both in the U.S. and overseas
for potentially faulty front seatbelts. The recall affects
29,000 units rolling on American roads.
Lexus dealers will replace the buckles in both front seats,
which can presently jam due to a faulty part. Lexus reports
that drivers can avoid the issue by 'releasing the seatbelt
slowly.'
This is a good example of concern for quality. Rather than
argue about it, rather than ponder, stall or delay...Lexus
just does it. And it’s just a seat belt buckle that
won’t release as fast or quickly as Lexus thinks it
should.
Why don’t other manufacturers show that much concern
for the detail? Who knows, but this is a good example of
why many people consider the Lexus label to exemplify the
best in engineering and a caring concern for their customers.
