$450k Mercedes McLaren SuperCars
Being Recalled
Got
a lemon Mercedes? Would you like a new one or your
money back?
Mercedes USA has announced a recall of the 2005 McLaren
and 2006 McLaren SLR model vehicles due to an engine fire
danger.
Reportedly, engine compartment temperatures can get so high
that it can damage the engine alternator. That can lead to
reduced electricity to supply the electrical system. It can
also lead to an engine compartment fire. Now that’s
one hot car!
If
the defect occurs while being driven, the car will begin
to shut down electrical systems, such as the air conditioning.
Eventually, as it worsens, a warning light will illuminate
that tells the driver to stop the vehicle. The affected potential
lemon SLR McLaren models sold for about $450,000 new and
were built between October 2003 and May 2006.
