Dodge Recalls 86,000 Ram Trucks
for Wheel Bearing Defects
Do you own one of these potential lemon Dodge Ram truck
vehicles?
- 2006 Dodge Ram (built 1/07/05 through 04/27/06)
Chrysler has told federal safety investigators that the
86,000 Dodge Ram truck front wheel bearings may have been
built with an insufficient amount of bearing grease during
the manufacturing process. Less grease can mean more friction.
As a result the bearing can degrade faster than normal, causing
a vibration sense and bearing noise. If the noise and vibration
are ignored, the hub assembly can separate.
When bearings fail, the suspension system can fail. You
can lose control of the truck and crash.
If you own a lemon Dodge Ram truck or another Dodge lemon,
you may be entitled to your money back or a new vehicle.

Dodge says its dealers will replace the front hub and bearing
units. This may result in a loss of vehicle control and cause
a crash without warning. Dealers will replace the front hub
and bearing units.
Chrysler first learned of the potential problem from a supplier
in April 2006 but didn’t take more formal action until
reports started coming in of bearing failures in late 2006.
That may have been because the economically lumbering corporate
giant was still dealing with two earlier recalls public recalls
on the 06 Dodge Ram in the months before. A monthly recall
on any model spells trouble.
The Dodge Ram’s second recall was in March 2006 when
292,000 trucks were recalled for headlight system defects.
The Chrysler model truck’s first recall came in February
2006 when Dodge recalled 39,000 Ram trucks when it was discovered
that the rear brakes could lock up because of defects in
the ABS system. The first quarter of 2006 didn’t look
good for Chrysler engineers. Let’s hope things were
straightened out in the 2007 model.
If you’ve got a dangerous Dodge lemon, don’t
go it alone!
