Cummins Recalls 2,159 Bad Rv Engines for Piston Rod Failures

ISL Cummins CM850 Diesel Engines, made for recreational vehicles:

• Made between October 17, 2005, and APRIL 18, 2006
• Engine Serial Numbers range from 46543077 to 46603939.

The engine company has told federal safety investigators that some internal engine connecting rods contain a machining defect in the “wrist pin bushing” of the rod. If it fails, it could cause the piston to seize up. That may result in the rod literally breaking a hole in the engine block. That can’t be good for your engine or your Rv.
