Subaru has issued a significant safety recall impacting approximately 69,663 vehicles, specifically targeting the 2026 Subaru Forester and 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid models.
If you recently purchased or leased one of these popular SUVs, a manufacturing defect could turn your open-air driving experience into a serious highway hazard.
The Problem: Loose Moonroof Glass Panels
The issue stems from a manufacturing oversight. The glass panel on the power moonroof may have been improperly bonded to its structural frame. Over time, or under the pressure of highway speeds, this weak adhesion can cause the glass to crack, come loose, or detach entirely from the vehicle while driving.
A flying piece of automotive glass is a massive hazard, not just for you and your passengers, but for every other driver sharing the road behind you.
The “Fix” vs. The Reality
Subaru’s official remedy is to have dealership service centers inspect the adhesion of the moonroof and completely replace the moonroof glass assembly free of charge.
However, safety recalls like this can often be the first sign of a larger, systemic problem with a vehicle. If you take your Forester in for this recall, or if your vehicle spends excessive time in the shop for moonroof leaks, rattling, or structural problems, you might be dealing with an auto fraud issue or a legal “lemon.”
When to Contact an Ohio Lemon Law Attorney
Under Ohio’s Lemon Law, if a manufacturer cannot repair a major defect within a reasonable number of attempts, or if your vehicle is out of service for too many days due to repairs, you may be entitled to a total refund or a brand-new replacement vehicle.
Don’t let a dealership keep stringing you along with temporary fixes. If your 2026 Subaru Forester has been plagued by repeated defect repairs, it’s time to understand your consumer rights.
